In Enga Pettai this week, we move on to Toa Payoh and its surrounding areas, Whampoa and Rangoon Rd – How are these 3 estates linked to one another ? What is it about these places that makes ex-residents break down while reminiscing about their days there ? Learn about some iconic buildings that still stand firm in that area, some a century old ! Also, watch as host Jay Nesh is brought on an unwilling tour of Toa Payoh and its surroundings…
The ever-bustling Geylang is a “bazaar” by all descriptions. In Enga Pettai this week, we meet some families who have lived and owned businesses in this iconic estate. Their stories are embellished with accounts of the movie-going culture of its people and of the unforgettable 1963 racial riots.
